Arizona Workshop – Day 1

Hello everyone, so this next week I hope to post an update each day for an event that I was given the opportunity to attend. I'm hoping over the next 5 days to get some great shots. Thanks in advance for coming along for the ride!

So some of you may already know that when I am not playing photographer on the internet that I am also both a camera salesman, and a diehard Sony lover. I was offered a chance to leave Atlanta for a week and take a workshop with some pretty huge names in the Sony community. I'm going to be a little tight-lipped about the specifics but let's just say this is a pretty big deal.

If you have been following my goals for 2016 you may remember that one of them is "learn more" and when I was told I was selected to travel to Arizona and have the chance to re-learn some old techniques, as well as discover new ones, I was floored!

This morning started off around 4:00 am when I arrived early (very early) to the airport. I needed to drop off a rental car (long story) and wanted to make sure I got through security ok.

Having some time to kill, I chose just to relax and try my best not to fall asleep.

I did, however, end up catching a pretty killer sunrise at the airport.

Two flights later I landed in Arizona and made my way to the resort where the workshop will be held. After checking in I met up with an old friend of mine, Justin Briggs, of JBriggs Photography. Side note, be sure to check out his work. Great guy, and an amazing photographer. Justin drove 2 hours from Phoenix to meet me at the resort, buy a camera from me, and ultimately play driver and just kill a few hours until the welcome meeting. He also let me snap a few shots with his medium format setup, which I am entirely too jealous of (I'm sure he can say the same thing about what I am doing for the next few days).

At the meeting, I was introduced to some of the other attendees, as well as a few of my "coaches" for the next few days. Said coaches have a combined 90+ years of experience in Photography, and I fully intend on picking their brains as much as possible. I didn't do much shooting as I was pretty tired after a long day of travel, but I'll share some of the images I happened to snap while walking around. Today was long, and the next few days will be even longer. But I am confident that I will be able to learn a few new tricks, hopefully anyway.

But for now, I have a case of the sleepies. It's time to call it a night. See you all tomorrow.

Trying something new

Hello friends and followers,

If you check out the page regularly, you are probably already familiar with the News, Extra, and NSFW blogs. I've added a new one (kinda–still working the bugs out), Visual.

The Visual blog will be a link to the most recent 20 posts to the UNEX Instagram page. Of course if you follow on instagram already, you won't need to keep an eye out here. However for those of you who don't (but want a quick look through my eyes, or want to see pictures of Fluffy Cat) you can take a look here for a brief glimpse into my world.

I'll see if I like it long term. Its still a little wonky, and I much rather would prefer that it logged it more like a traditional blog on a day to day "post" basis. But beggars can't be choosers.

Oh hey, would you look at that!

Hello friends and followers,

Just a happy heads up that the two shoots from last week featuring Hada Pixie are both now available online to Zivity subscribers!

(Not only that but both were ranked "Noteworthy" by their staff...I'm above average YAY!)

Check out the NSFW blog for a sneak peek at some outtakes from the set, and an offer for a free trial on the site!

UNEX Update 11/12/2012

Hello UNEX friends and followers,

Hope everyone had a great weekend, I know mine personally was busy. But it was worth it.

Firstly let me talk about what you came here to see. The photos. I had a lovely afternoon with the ever fabulous Scarlett Quinn yesterday. We ended up getting not one, but two sets shot for you. The first one is finished and is awaiting approval by Miss Quinn herself. Once that is approved I will be uploading it to Zivity. As well as post a few selects to the NSFW blog.

In the upcoming weeks, I will be working on the second set. Launch date is still TBD, but I will keep you all in the loop as to when it is set to launch.

This upcoming weekend I am taking most of the weekend off to spend a little time away from photos. However if you are in the Atlanta area this friday, please come out to The Shelter and vote for me in the Kink Patrol Photo Competition

Now, on to the real fun part. In the next week or so I will be migrating to my own website (no more basing things on Facebook/Tumblr/Etc). You may have noticed this weekend some strange links appearing on the Facebook page. That was me trying to get a few kinks worked out on how content will be shared across networks.

I still have a few last minute tweaks to make before I am comfortable making the site go live. Namely getting a visually attractive splash page created, filling in some text blocks, and arranging my portfolio gallery to show newest images first. But once that is all completed, I will have everything up and running, and more importantly you will have an all in one spot to keep up on all things UNEX.

Hope everyone else had a productive weekend as well.

Edit: I am also still looking for some client testimonials to throw up on the site. If we have worked together I would love your input.

UNEX Update 11/09/2012

Hello fans and followers,

I have another busy weekend of work ahead. There may be no rest for the wicked, but my lack of sleep just adds fuel to the UNDEREXPOSED: Alternative Photography fire!

Saturday (11/10): I am teaching a friend what I have learned about Caffenol printing in hopes to spread the love around a little bit. Then in the evening its all about rubbing elbows with some great people (and trying to get new clients for you all to enjoy).

Sunday (11/11): Working again with the stunning Scarlett Quinn. We plan on shooting two unique sets for our Zivity workings. Maybe even a few bonus shoots for all of you who continually support and vote for us.  This support is much appreciated, and it helps provide a little extra income to keep fresh and new content coming.

Also, I have gotten a little bit of feedback from all of you about the three blog format…some people love it, others don’t (mostly because its hosted here on Tumblr). So with that I propose this. Would more of you read the blog if it was attached to its own domain? Would you be more inspired to comment and share things if it was on its own independent source? Let me know. Just trying to look into the future.

Thanks as always for the support -B
