Arista EDU 100

Week 30 – DragonCon in Black and White – Various Films

50 ROLLS! As of this entry there are 50 rolls that have been shot and shown to all of you. The journey is almost complete...although much earlier than expected. I've already shot next week's entry into this adventure and I believe I have 12 rolls of film left. This should put me up to 42 weeks (10 weeks short of my goal of a year). So what does this mean? Well...if I have the spare pocket money I will try to pick up 10 more rolls and finish 52 weeks of entries. If not, we'll figure something out.

I'd like to take a moment to say a big early THANK YOU to everyone who has supported me and kept up with this blog. Your comments and love has been instrumental to the success I feel about 2015.

But without further ado, DragonCon Mega Update 2, This time in Black and White.

Week 17 – Leftover wedding photos, and other things – Arista EDU 100

This roll ended up being a little more random than most. I loaded it with the intention of shooting all of it after the wedding of my friend Abby. However after a couple of frames, we all were sweaty and ready to move on with the rest of the day. So it sat in my camera for a few days. (Ok, more than a few days, maybe a week or more, in case you haven't figured out yet I am shooting WAY more than I expected so there is like a 2 week lag in what happens on the blog and what I am actually doing).

After a particularly busy week, I decided it was time to finish the roll and get it processed for all of you. One major thing of note is I shot the entire roll in a focal length I don't normally work with. Part of the camera package I got for christmas included a 28mm lens. Typically I shoot more portrait style images and work with something closer to 50mm-90mm so it was fun to play with something a touch wider.

Development Notes:
1:50 Dilution Rodinal @ 70º-ish
Agitation for first 30 seconds, 5 seconds every 30 seconds.
7 Minutes.
Standard Fix - 4 Minutes (Brand new batch of Fixer).

Week 12b&c – Jackie – Arista EDU 100

Current roll count 23. At this rate I really am going to be at 52 before I know it.

Originally this was going to be two different posts. Both were shot on the same day as the previous update. However, after much consideration I decided to place both of these rolls together since they are the same film stock and were shot at pretty much the same time. Some of the later images could be considered NSFW (even though nothing really is visible. Just be mindful).

Officially this is the 12th week of the project and after this post I will begin collecting my favorite images so far into a special gallery on my website.  What have been your favorite posts or photos so far? Anything you would like to see different? Anything you would like to see more of? I'm always open to suggestions.

Development Notes:
3.5 Minutes
Rodinol 1:25 Dilution
Standard Fix Time

Week 8c – [Insert Pun About Being Naked Here] – Arista EDU Ultra 100

I shot this series of images with the intentions of having some extras in which to censor. However once I saw them I realized I just couldn't bring myself to deface them.

Again working with model Morgan (we shot these last three weeks at the same time as I think I mentioned).

These shoots were also the first in which I used my new light meter, and honestly I just keep wondering what I did without one. It makes things incredibly easy to determine when working with my studio lamps. However as the book says "if you give a mouse a cookie, he is gonna' want a glass of milk" and therefore now I want more studio toys.

But gear acquisition syndrome (GAS) aside, I am pretty happy with how this roll came out.  As of this entry I am now at 13 rolls for the year (yet only on week 8...I think I am enjoying this way too much). Only 39 more to go to complete my goal (but this blog will probably become the (MORE THAN) 52rolls project. We will see!

Just like last week these images contain nudity...so don't look around people who are sensitive to that kind of thing.

NSFW Photos Below:

Development Notes:
Rodinol 1:25 Dilution (10ml to 250ml)
3.5 Minutes 4 rotations every 30 seconds

Week 4 – Rodinol and Robots – Arista EDU 100

Its been cold here in Atlanta. I know, Laugh all you want. Comparatively speaking our "cold" isn't nearly as cold as some other places around the world. And I'll admit after living in Montana for several years I am still mostly comfortable walking around without a jacket. However its still cold enough that I don't want to go outside in the windy-wetness-of-misery.

This week was all about experimentation. I tried to use all of the various lenses that came with the manual 35mm camera that I have been primarily shooting on. Not everything worked out exactly as planned, and it probably didn't help that I was trying to shoot indoors on 100 iso film mostly without a flash. But I still think I did ok for the most part, save for a few focus opportunities.

This was also my first time processing with Rodinol, and I have to say "where have you been all my life?". This is so much faster and easier than the caffenol process I am used to. I love it!

But without further ado, here are the images from this week. As always Tumblr/Wordpress users may need to visit UNEXPhotography.com/52rolls to see the gallery.

Obligatory cat photo.
