Week 31 – Finite Automata – Arista EDU 400

When I was initially approached for this photoshoot I went in saying that I really didn't do too many band photos, by the end I really was questioning my thoughts on the matter. Between these film images, and the digitals I was able to capture...everyone walked away satisfied.

If you liked this series, please check out my "extra" blog where the digital images taken at the same time will be posted. And if industrial music is your thing, please make sure to check out Finite Automata online, or when they come to a city near you.

Week 22a – The Imperial Opa Rehearsal – Arista EDU 400

I always love working with friends. And when those friends just happen to be a part of a circus that makes things even better.

I put out a call on Facebook for people who wanted to have some photographs made, and it wasn't too long before a long time friend and muse Nicolette (the one on the aerial) asked if I was available.

I'm not sure what exactly the event was for, but it seemed to be both a rehearsal session, and a studio recording of their Bastille Day performance. By the end of the night not only did I get a great show, but I also was introduced in true showman style as a "world famous photographer". A boy can dream anyway.

Development Notes:

Week 18b – Brianna – Arista EDU 400

Oh magic hour. What a beautiful thing you are. And yet why don't I use you more?

Granted most of this roll was shot on a time crunch, I hadn't fully explored this area before heading over to shoot with Brianna. But I don't think that I did too bad with what I had to work with. The only thing I would change about this setup is that I was trying to go with more of a silhouette on the photos of her standing with her back to me, but instead I metered "properly" for a correctly exposed image. So I guess worse things could have happened.

All in all I am very happy with how things turned out, and can't wait to work with Bri again.

Development Notes:
1:100 Dilution Rodinal
Stand Developed at "Room Temperature" 60 minutes, 30 seconds of agitation at start.
Standard Fix - 4:00. Agitation for 5 seconds every 30 seconds.

Week 11a – The George Eastman House – Arista EDU 400

I had a chance while visiting Rochester, NY for a friend's wedding to tool around the city for a bit before the big event. One of the places I knew I had to visit was Kodak founder, George Eastman's home.

It was like something out of The Great Gatsby, and a really neat stop. The home itself is only part of the experience in going. They also maintain a few gallery spaces and a museum of sorts. If you are ever in the area I think its totally worth the trip!

And before anyone say anything, yes I realize the irony of shooting on another man's film while in the "house of Kodak".
