Week 20 – The Odd Couple – Ilford HP5+ 400iso

You all may remember Brandie and Nic from the Straight Edge Tattoo update a few months back. If you also remember I said I'd make it a point to get back to the shop once they were up and running.

After putting out a call on Facebook looking for someone to photograph, Brandie responded and asked me to swing by the shop. We had discussed having me shoot some photos for the Save the Date invitations to her wedding, but I didn't realize we would be shooting that day.

I snapped off a few photos, and promised that we'd work together soon after I could plan something a little more fitting for them.

Week 19 – 4th of July – Impossible B&W SX-70 (Gen 1)

Yes, I know. "shield the print immediately once it comes out of the camera". I'm working on that. When I bought this box and another of color a few weeks ago I made sure I picked up a frog tongue at the same time. However it ripped while I was trying to install it, so I had to get another shipped to me. But that aside I still think I had very few images that 100% worked.

Thats not to say that I don't like these images. They have their flaws, but each one is a unique moment in my life.  Now if I can just figure out how to trick the camera into faster shutter speeds or get a tiny tripod to stop my hand shakes. But that's an issue for another time.

Week 18b – Brianna – Arista EDU 400

Oh magic hour. What a beautiful thing you are. And yet why don't I use you more?

Granted most of this roll was shot on a time crunch, I hadn't fully explored this area before heading over to shoot with Brianna. But I don't think that I did too bad with what I had to work with. The only thing I would change about this setup is that I was trying to go with more of a silhouette on the photos of her standing with her back to me, but instead I metered "properly" for a correctly exposed image. So I guess worse things could have happened.

All in all I am very happy with how things turned out, and can't wait to work with Bri again.
