Headshots

Gideon Hodge - 2020.

The Clown Prince of Cabaret, Gideon Hodge, has been terrorizing stages around the country for nearly 20 years. Known for his boisterous, zany characters and his dynamic movement and acrobatic style, Gideon brings his circus and theatrical background to the stage in his various personas and creative endeavors.

Gideon and I last worked together in June of last year when he commissioned me for some new headshots for what I thought would be a book jacket photo. I thought we got some very usable images, but unfortunately, they weren’t quite what was needed for the job.

I wanted the chance to make things right, and Gid wanted to capture something more closely resembling the work I’ve been doing in my home studio. So, of course, I invited him right over, and with the help of Courtney from Courtney Walters Makeup, it was off to the races.

Jack Calico - 2020.

"Jack Calico is an Atlanta-based burlesque performer, variety entertainer, and possibly your new stepfather.

Whether he's mesmerizing old ladies with his rhythmic dancing from his years as a professional salsa instructor, or he's charming even older ladies with his gruff baritone singing voice honed over decades of drunken karaoke, it suffices to say that old ladies will be involved.

So wash your ears, and remove your eye patch for Atlanta's Lovable Tramp, Jack Calico. “

I’ve known Jack since my early days in the Atlanta Burlesque community. But to be fair, if you spend any time in the same room as him, you’ll soon know Jack too.

I’m surprised its taken this long for the two of us to link up and do some work. After a burlesque sabbatical, Jack is currently taking the steps to warm back up to the stage and answered my call to action when I was looking for some new talent to work with.

So hide your mother, and lock your doors. Jack Calico is back baby!

June (The Month) - 2019

Hey ya’ll…it’s been a while.

Even that is harder to write than I’d like it to be. But I’m hoping that in the next little bit I can get myself back into the swing of things. After getting back from The Netherlands in May, I hoped that things would have continued the way they always did. However, every time I even thought about picking up my camera…I just couldn’t.

So I forced myself to keep making work. The only way out is through. Or at least that’s what I kept telling myself.

I partnered up with blog regulars Sunday and Gideon for the photos below, even if it did take me 4 months to write a blog post about it.

Now, all of that being said, I do have some interesting things in the pipeline coming soon. So please keep in touch and keep your eyes peeled.

See you soon.

Ruby Marx - 2019.

Ruby Marx is a fresh face in the Atlanta Burlesque community who was referred to me by Charles of CBPhotos

(Side note, let’s pause for a minute and take a second to give a much needed shout out to Charles himself. If you have attended any of the many wonderful burlesque events here in Atlanta you probably are familiar with this man and his talent for winning raffles. His live work is wonderful, and he sure knows how to make the best at a large assortment of various lighting).

But, back to Ruby. She invited me into her home and we set to giving her the best photo experience possible. Afterwards we had a lovely chat, and I can’t wait to come up with something new for us to shoot together.

Abby Div - 2019.

I’m honestly not sure how Abby found me. But I do know we have been trying to work together for at least a year now by my count. After several instances of being in the same place at the same time I’m happy that we finally made plans to work together.

Abby and I captured so many great images in our short time together, far too many to share all of them in this post. Maybe a little down the line after these have time to marinate a little bit more I’ll share a few more.

Until then, give these a look:

If you can’t get enough of Abby, or want to book her yourself, make sure you visit her website. And of course because I’m not ashamed to share projects I am fond of, you can also see Abby (and so many others) in Nikola Tamindzic’s book Fucking New York.
