“The next station is Kanda, JY02. The doors on the left side will open. Please change here for the Chuo Line and the Ginza Subway Line.”
It’s been a while since one of these posts, or a full one anyway. Do you ever just get tired of the state of things and randomly plan a vacation to the other side of the world…or is that just a me thing? Doom and gloom aside, this was a very exciting trip for me. For a good potion of my life Japan has always been just out of reach, and finally as an adult with an adult budget things kinda fell into place.
I totally understand if most of you want to skip this one since it’s basically just a modern version of inviting you over to see a slide show of my vacation photos…but I hope those of you who stay can see some of the beauty I did in these moments in time.
These images are also a bit of a departure from my usual setup as Fujifilm graciously loaned me one of their GFXRF100 bodies to take along for the journey. I feel like aside from a few gripes that could have been solved with another day or two of menu-customization I really enjoyed this body as a travel camera. When you look at the files at full resolution (which on this website you probably won’t even come close despite my best efforts) its easy to become blown away at how many options a file of this size really has. Aside from a few examples you really cannot tell which of these files have been cropped from their original aspect ratios and resolutions.
Of course I would decide to take a 100 Megapixel camera for a spin during one of the worst times for storage media.
Thank you again Fujifilm for the loaner, this made my adventure just that more special.
Just to truly illustrate the power of 100 Megapixels. The above selfie is actually a 100% crop of this image:
I really could have stayed at “Creepy Vending Machine Corner” for a LONG time. But unfortunately in camera it was so dark that I couldn’t really see the final images as I took them. What I was able to recover though is really a testament to the sheer amount of data in the GFX files.
If you made it this far, thanks for sticking with me. This post is a LOT longer than my usual travel posts. I really cannot wait to make it back and see what else I can see.
Me too Daido, me too.
