I forget when, but at some point during the last 6 months I learned of adapters that would allow me to use the same lenses I have been using with my film camera...only on my DLSR. I toyed around with buying one almost immediately, but ended up holding off until now. 

I've done some very basic testing and have come to a pre-conclusion. OLD. GLASS. RULES. The photo above is a 250mm lens that is older than I am. I still need to actually get more light to do some more testing, but for now enjoy 2 portraits of the cat (same photo). 

3200 ISO, f3.5, 1/15th 
No additional editing aside from white balance and slight exposure compensation.
